Volunteer
Fountain of Hope Children’s Home is a registered Canadian charity and non-governmental organization in Patsankhondo village Mitundu, Lilongwe, Malawi (registration number TR/INC: 4332). We provide hope, care, love and support to orphans, widows and people living with HIV and AIDS. Our staff, local volunteers and children welcome visitors.
We’re in need of volunteers with a variety of backgrounds: medical, teaching, music, sport, painting, gardening and construction. If you have a desire to help, we likely have a job for you.
At this time, there is no housing available at Fountain of Hope for volunteers. Volunteers stay in accommodations in nearby Lilongwe, an hour’s drive from Mitundu. Fountain of Hope staff can pick you up at the airport and deliver you to your accommodations when you arrive, and provide transportation each day. You will find places to eat, Internet cafes and banking in Lilongwe. You should purchase and carry bottled water.
Half of our staff speak excellent English so if that’s your primary language, communication shouldn’t be a barrier. Before you arrive, all volunteers receive suggested packing lists, packing tips and a “serving with excellence” briefing to prepare for the experience.
